Thursday 23rd April - walks **** – Levington – sunny and breezy.

The sunshine with a good moderate breeze continues for one last day but I had to pick my hearing aids up in the morning and after yesterdays epic 40 windsurf foil I couldn’t face another long drive into Essex for a late finish so I did my other hobby! I left Mag potting out her new Busy Lizzies I headed out with my cameras to take a few weather pics, I did check out The Dip first where windsurfing conditions looked good but there was no one out so I carried to Ferry Road and actually ended up in Levington Marina where it was really warm being sheltered from the NE wind. I took some pics of the old yacht that is beach down near Loompit Lake before heading home to sort out my pics while Mag made a yummy potato salad with corned beef and I drove over to Levington Church for lunch on the bench with lovely views down to the River Orwell, it was great to see several yachts out now the weather has improved. There was a group of birdwatchers over by Levington Creek so something must be about, we did see a couple of birds of prey hunting over the reed bed that we thought were Marsh Harriers but we were not sure? We enjoyed a peaceful lunch and were definitely overdressed as it was very warm! We then had our walk down to the wooden board walk and with my new hearing aids the bird song was crystal clear! We reached the Orwell and turned left to the creek where we spotted a family of Godwits before heading up the hill towards the van where we were lucky enough to see the Levington herd of deer, about 30 in all! Then home for more photo sorting while Mag watered the garden before having a cuppa and cake, top day again:)
